Loretta attended Herzl Jr College in Chicago, IL and graduated from Ohio State University. She retired after 30 years of service from the Defense Electronics Supply Center as a systems analyst. Loretta was an active member of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Dayton, Ohio for 46 years, and served as the first female Senior Warden of the church. She is currently a member of Church of the Redeemer, Daughters of the King, The National Black Women’s Task Force, The National Union of Black Episcopalians, and Episcopal women’s board, ROPE (Royal order of Prince Ethiopia). Loretta was also active in her community; she was a life member of the NAACP, Democratic Black Caucus of Florida, Bradenton-Sarasota Links, Inc., she was an Archousai of Boulé William Myers, Silhouette of the Sarasota Kappa Fraternity, ASALH Manasota, Associate member of the Columbus and Dayton, Ohio Smart Set, as well as the Lunch Bunch.
She is survived by loving husband, Dr. William M. Myers; step daughter, Hazel Collier; step grandchildren, Stephanie M. Johnson, Deidra D. Baker, and Nyree (Ernest) D. Wesley; step great grandchildren, Stephen Johnson, Jayla Wesley, and Ernest Wesley Jr.; nephews, Ronald Edwards, and Craig (Mary) Dolman; as well as a host of godchildren, family and friends.
Loretta is also preceded in death by sisters, Katherine Miller, Lucille Miller-Dolman, and Dorothy Miller-Edwards.
As a lover of her church and animals, memorial contributions are suggested to: Church of the Redeemer in Sarasota FL or Manatee County Humane Society.
Memorial Services will be held 11:30 a.m., Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Church of the Redeemer; 222 South Palm Avenue, Sarasota, FL 34236. Inurnment will be held in Kansas City, Missouri Monday, June 19, 2017.
