Kimball Bobbitt was born August 31, 1942 in Jacksonville Florida to Kimball R Bobbitt and May Ingle Bobbitt. He was raised in the Lakeshore neighborhood and he attended Lakeshore Elementary, Lakeshore Junior High, and Robert E Lee High School graduating in 1959. Kimball then attended Furman University and transferred to the University of Florida during his Freshman year. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting at UF in 1964 and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order.
Kimball met Kathleen Holt in Jacksonville while they were both teenagers. When Kimball first saw Kathy, he told a friend “I’m going to marry that girl.” They dated throughout college and were married in Jacksonville in 1966.
Kimball’s first job out of school was as an IRS agent in Los Angeles, California. He earned his CPA certificate and came back to Jacksonville where he worked as a CPA for national CPA firms Arthur Young and Touche Ross. Kimball then became Vice President of Finance for the Charter Company in Jacksonville. In 1984, Kimball signed back on with Touche Ross and was transferred to Sarasota, FL as the Partner in charge of the office. Kimball loved the outdoors, especially the water. He was most happy when he was out on his fishing boat in Sarasota Bay or in the Gulf catching Spanish Mackerel. He liked living in Sarasota, but his heart was always in North Florida, especially the St. John’s River in Palatka and Vilano Beach in St. Augustine. He was also a lifelong Florida Gator football fan.
