Karen grew up in Sycamore, IL, and graduated from Sycamore High School. She then attended Iowa State University and graduated with a degree in Child Development. After working at Michael Reese Hospital she moved to White Sands New Mexico where she met her future husband William (Bud) Duffey. They were married on August 3, 1962 The couple moved to Huntsville AL where their eldest daughter Kathy was born. They later moved to Sycamore where daughters Kim and Carolyn were born. They lived there for 45 years. While the children were growing up Karen was frequently seen at softball games, swim meets, parades, volleyball games, and any other event her children were participating in. She was involved with the family business, Driv-Lok, and personally knew every employee. Karen was actively involved in the Republican Women's club and served as Republican County Chairwoman for many years as well as leading the campaigns of many local and state candidates. Karen and Bud retired to Sarasota, FL. Karen enjoyed the warm weather and being able to golf year-round. Karen was a long-time member of Trinity Methodist Church.
She is survived by her loving husband William Duffey, daughters Kim Duffey and Carolyn (Duffey) Braune, Grandchildren Kyle, Shea, Mikaela, and Jace.
She is preceded in death by parents Hollis & Evelyn Hilstrom, and daughter Kathy Duffey
Celebration of Life will take place on November 22 at 10:30am at Trinity Methodist Church. 4150 S Shade Ave. Sarasota FL. Interment will be later and will be private.
In Lieu of flowers, donations in Karen Duffey’s honor may be given to Trinity Memorial Fund and Honor Animal Rescue
