Jeanne was born February 25, 1926 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Wilmer and Imogene Loomis. She attended Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA, where she was co-editor of the yearbook and on the newspaper staff. She was a member of Tau Sigma Gamma sorority and a member of the Women’s Athletic Association. She was also a cheerleader, and was a member of the Field Hockey team, the JV Basketball team, and the Softball team. Jeanne graduated from Ursinus College in 1947 with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. She married LeRoy (Bud) Miller June 17, 1949. She taught Physical Education and coached Basketball and Field Hockey at Media High School in Media, PA. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Red Bank, NJ, a Girl Scout Leader, a Field Hockey referee, and worked with the Department of the Army at Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey. Most recently, Jeanne was a member of Sarasota Baptist Church, where she was active with the Music ministry, the Twisted Sisters 😊, and her Sunday School class.
She will be remembered as a kind, fun, God-loving, sports-loving, game-playing (and game-squealing), and laughing mom, Grandmommy, and Great-Grandmommy.
She is survived by her sister, Bessie Gorman (Harry) of New Jersey, daughters Barbara Deutschle (Mark) of Sarasota, Lorrie Miller of Tampa, Terri Leap (Mike) of Sarasota, Kathi Simpson (Mike) of Irmo, SC; Grandchildren Taylor Jackson (Mason) of Columbus, NC, Christopher Deutschle (Amber) of Durham, NC, Jeffrey Sullebarger of Lexington, KY, Saxon Simpson (April) of Dallas, TX, Logan Simpson (Hannah) of Irmo, SC, Melissa Sullebarger of Tampa, Caitlin Deutschle of Orlando, Taryn Tindell (Dustin) of Clearwater, Rebecca Leap of Ypsilanti, MI, Garrett Simpson of Columbia, SC, Bethany Leap of Silver Spring, MD; and great-grandchildren Liam Jackson, Rhys Jackson, and Ava Jo Simpson.
Jeanne will be honored by family at a graveside service.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sarasota Baptist Church music ministry.
