Helen was born on October 27, 1907 to Axel Anderson and Matilda Nicholson in Wilcox, Pennsylvania. She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Ramsey; sons, Gerald Ramsey, Donald Ramsey, Roger Ramsey; daughters, Lynda Diane Ramsey and Virginia Purdy; daughter-in-law, Lois Ann Ramsey; grandson, Roddy Ramsey; mother, Matilda Nicholson; father, Axel Anderson; sisters, Louise Huddleson, Virginia Reed; brother, Carl Arthur Anderson.
In 1930 Helen married Earl (Jack) Ramsey in Jamestown, New York, and to this union 6 children were born, 3 sons and 3 daughters. The family moved to Maine in 1944. Helen was a devoted homemaker for the next 24 years. At the age of 61, Helen and Earl became proprietors of the Seaview Restaurant in Lubec, Maine. She was fondly referred to as the little lady who baked the great homemade pies. Following the death of her husband in 1976, Helen moved to Florida and resided in Bradenton and Sarasota. The last 3 years of her life were spent in Katy, Texas. While in her nineties, Helen devoted her summers to traveling throughout eastern Canada and Maine with her son, Gerald, and visiting her daughter, LynnAnn, in Katy, Texas.
Helen was a gentle woman who touched many people on her life’s journey. Her sparkling blue eyes, tender smile, and warm hugs welcomed everyone she knew. Her unconditional love, grace, and devotion will be remembered by all who loved her. Helen was sweet. Helen was special.
Helen is survived by daughter, LynnAnn Hawkes and husband Wesley; granddaughters, Jessica and Melissa Hawkes, Kathy Ramsey Scott and husband Brandon Nieuwkoop, Karla Small and husband Joseph, Lynda Holcomb and husband Wayne, Brenda McLintock and husband Rob, Paula Dawson and husband Paul; grandson, Paul L’Homme; great grandchildren, Kyle Ramsey Scott, Amber Armstrong, Zachary and Joshua Small, Joshua Holcomb and wife Rebecca, Randi Holcomb, Chelsea and Rob McLintock, Bryce and Connor Dawson; great great grandchildren, Taylor and Ryliegh Holcomb.
Visitation with the family will be Monday, December 20, 2010 from 1:00 to 2:00 at Palms-Robarts Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 170 Honore Avenue, Sarasota, Florida. The funeral will follow the visitation at 2:00.
