Florence G Foss

Florence served in the US Marine Corps Women’s Reserve as a Corporal during WWII. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Kent State University in Ohio and a Master’s degree from the University of Connecticut. In 1957 she moved to Sarasota.

She retired from the Sarasota County School system in 1986 after teaching for 28 years at Sarasota Junior High and the Homebound Program of Exceptional Student Education. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, Chi Omega and Retired Teachers Association. She lived at Sunnyside Village since 2006.

Florence was an avid golfer and also loved bowling, reading and playing pool and ping-pong.

Florence is pre-deceased by her sister Lillian West in 2007, brother Winslow Goodwin in 2015 and son Edward N. Foss in 2022

Survived by her daughter Leigh Morrow of Johnson City, TN, her son Geoffrey Foss of Lillington, NC and six grandchildren: Greg, Monte, Steven, Kaitlin, Donnie Jr. and Corey, and three great-grandchildren, Preston, Zion and Alexis.
