He was born in Geneva ,New York on September 24, 1940, to his parents Leon and Isabel Campbell. He was the oldest of 4 children. His Siblings are Linda Moen, Virginia Farrell ( deceased) and Ken Campbell. Don met the love of his life in the fall of 1961 and married her in the fall of 1962. This September 29th would have been 61 years together.
Don served his nation in the United States Navy for nine years , active and reserve, he also served with honor in the American Legion and the Moose Lodge.
Don was survived by his loving devoted wife Christine Campbell , His sons, Scott Campbell ( Deanna Campbell), and Matt Campbell (Margaret Campbell), and his two Daughters, Susan Sanford ( James Sanford), and Judy Austin ( Mike Austin). Don was an amazing husband , father , grandfather of twelve, great grandfather of fifteen, brother to Ken Campbell ( Tess Campbell), Linda Moen and best friend to his wife Chris .
Don was preceded in death by his parents Leon & Isabel Campbell, son Jeffery, Campbell sister Virginia Farrell, and brother in-law Paul Moen.
Don served the Lord in many ways and was a Eucharistic Minister for 11 years. He was involved in designing and overseeing the construction of a beautiful memorial garden at Holy Cross Church . He devoted 19 years to Holy Cross Catholic Church. Don and Chris have been faithful members of St Joseph’s Catholic Church for the last 6 years .
Don loved serving the Lord and his Church, the Florida keys and enjoyed fishing and lobstering there for over 50 years . He loved being on a boat, and treated his family to a summer vacation every year in Marathon . He loved traveling all over and was always dreaming of the next adventure with his wife. Their biggest trip was to Barcelona, and cruised to France and Italy for their 55th wedding anniversary.
His positivity kept him in happy spirits all the time . Speaking of “spirits “ he always loved a couple cocktails in the evening. Don would want everyone to live life to its fullest . Enjoy each day with the ones you love and don’t forget to thank the lord above !

A funeral service will occur Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at St Joseph Catholic Church, 3100 26th St W, Bradenton, FL 34205. A committal service will occur Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 1:30 PM at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, FL 34232.
