Mr. William Morris (Billy) Black, age 71, a native of Covington County, Alabama and a resident of Saraland, AL passed away on Tuesday, June 28th. He was preceded in death by his father, Aubrey Campbell Black, mother Mary Louise Black Dubose and brother Danny Henry Black. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 51 years, Diane Stanley Black, his daughters Amy Black Farmer (Brett) of Daphne, AL, and Nia Black Aplin (Ron) of Wake Forest, NC; grandchildren Anne-Parrish Owen, Jace Owen, Chloe Owen, Emma Aplin and Brooke Aplin; sisters Patricia Jones of Opp, AL, Karen Weeks (Donny) of Warner Robins, GA; Angie Davis (Tony) of Andalusia, AL; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Billy was a 1969 graduate of Straughn High School in Andalusia, AL. He served in the Army National Guard from 1970 through 1977. For over forty years, he worked in the utility construction business in the Mobile area. He enjoyed supporting the Alabama Crimson Tide and was known to occasionally sport a houndstooth hat and even (tacky) elephant headgear. He was also well-known for showing off his fun and unique “happy” socks.
Billy was a loving husband, doting father, and adoring grandfather. He cherished special moments with his family – especially celebrating and supporting his daughters and his grandchildren in all aspects of their lives. He was a member of Redemption Church in Saraland and enjoyed the fellowship with his small group class there. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and lived a life that reflected his faith.
Visitation for Billy will be held on Friday, July 1, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home, Saraland, Al. Funeral Service will be celebrated in the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Saraland, Al.
