W.F. Anderson, Jr. (Bill), age 79, resident of Semmes, Alabama, passed away on September 1, 2022 in Mobile, AL. Mr. Anderson was born in the original Providence Hospital on September 10, 1942 to W.F. (Willie) Anderson and Martha Duke Anderson. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Carmen (Connie) Howell.
Mr. Anderson graduated from Semmes High School and attended Auburn University, earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army upon his graduation. During his time at Auburn, he met and married Mary Dawn Hunter, who preceded him in 1997 and with whom he shared a wonderful 33 years and raised 3 sons. He was also blessed to meet and marry “sweet” Anna Merle Rouse in 2008, with whom he shared 14 years of marriage.
Bill was truly a servant and leader; to his country, being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army as a Captain following his service in Vietnam, throughout his career in various positions with International Paper, BALCO Construction, and Scott Paper Company and to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through planting and leading Life Church of Bay Minette and various bible studies, commitment to missions work and to his family, in patient and excellent love over the years. Well done good and faithful servant!
Mr. Anderson is survived by three sons - Hunter (Lee) Anderson of Wilmington, NC, Brett (Kelly) Anderson of Birmingham, AL, Daniel (Jena) Anderson of Andalusia, AL and wife Anna Merle. He is also survived by two sisters Kay (Ray) McAdams of Ashdown, AR, Gwin Williams of Mobile, AL and six grandchildren – Rebekah, Mary Allison, Ellen, Will, Gray, and Drew Anderson.
Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home-Saraland on Monday, September 5, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held in Brooklyn Baptist Church Cemetery, in Conecuh County, AL at 2:30 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Gideons.
