Linda Eiland Chesser, 84, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 23, 1940, in Loango, AL, Linda, also known to many as “Nan” was the heart and soul of her family, known for her compassion and admired for her incredible strength.
A devoted mother of three, grandmother of six, and great-grandmother of 3, Linda’s greatest joy came from her relationship with the Lord and being surrounded by her family. Her famous cooking created traditions that brought together not just family, but friends and neighbors as well. Nan's homemade “holiday dressing” was legendary, and she delighted in passing down her recipe secrets to her children and grandchildren.
Beyond her role as a mother, Linda was an active member of Fountain of Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Creola, AL. Her love for the Lord was one that was admired by many.
Linda is preceded in death by her husband, Morgan Chesser of over 50 years, her brother Wyatt Eiland, sister Patricia Barfoot, and her parents Foy & Thelma Eiland.
She is survived by her sister Vanessa (Kay) Taylor (Ronnie), her three daughters Connie Harrison, Pam Mathis (Royce), Melissa Stringfellow (Freddie), 6 grandchildren; Bridgett Harrison, Courtney Jenkins, Candace Yetter (Jake), Carmen Mathis, Whitney Webb (Johnathon), Seth Stringfellow (Jasmine), and 3 great grandchildren; Joel Jenkins, John Jenkins, Hampton Morgan Yetter.
A graveside service for Linda will be held on October 16, 2024 at Satsuma Cemetery in Satsuma, AL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Home of Grace or Pilot’s For Christ in Linda’s memory.
