John Henry Wright Sr.

John Henry Wright Sr. born Dec.8, 1922 died Feb.5, 2013, WWII veteran. A pillar of Saraland for more than 60 years, he still served on the Water Board at the age of 90. He was a member of Pentalpha Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rites, Shriners and Eastern Star.

His services to the city included: 1st Volunteer Chief of Fire Department, Treasurer of Civic Forum. Saraland citizen of the year 2009, Charter member of Saraland Methodist Church, Lions Club, Optimist Club. Honorary Member of Women's Club, whenever called on to serve and make Saraland a better place to live Mr. Wright always freely answered the call.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Marguerite H. Wright. He is survived by his three children: John H. (Wanda) Wright JR. of Saraland, Ann W (Jack) McFerrin of FL. And Frances W. Willingham of GA. 8 Grandchildren; L J Wright, Michelle Wright, Beth Duliakas, Jennifer McFerrin, Olan McFerrin JR. Michelle Bily, Carl Willingham II and Earl Willingham JR. and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of Radney Funeral in Saraland on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 11 AM. Visitation will be Thursday evening at the funeral home from 5 until 8 PM. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
