Essie Lucille Leonard – a 90 year-old native of Whatley, AL and longtime resident of Mobile passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2014. She was a longtime volunteer for the Salvation Army and enjoyed bowling, but the center of her life was her family.
Mrs. Leonard was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Joseph Earl Leonard; son, Earl Boone; grandson, Timmy Leonard; and sons-in-law, Ronnie Ray Singleton and Buddy Coxwell, Sr. She is survived by six children, Louise Campbell (Billy), Jeanette Coxwell, Brenda Singleton, Eugene Leonard (Elaine), Bobby Leonard, Diane Holifield (Bobby); 15 grandchildren, Jenny Wood (Greg), Dede Boone, Earl Boone, Cathy Gates (Lee), Edwin Campbell, Michael Campbell (Tiffany), Buddy Coxwell, Jr., Jody Coxwell, Sam Coxwell (Cathy), Tonya Hurst (Dennis), Gene Leonard, Brian Leonard (Jamie), David Leonard, Jennifer Lingelbach (Marvin), and Robert Holifield; 18 great-grandchildren; as well as great, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 noon until the service hour.
