Douglas Lee Smith – loving husband, father, and son, a 41 year-old resident of Daphne, AL passed away Monday, September 26, 2016. Lee was a 1993 graduate of Fruitdale High School where he was a multisport athlete. He graduated from Livingston University where he played catcher and first base for the baseball team. Lee was a very active member of Spanish Fort United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Fight Club Men's Early Morning Prayer Group. He was an avid athlete and outdoorsman, loved playing golf, and was a passionate Alabama Crimson Tide fan. He was also a 6U Little League Softball coach in Spanish Fort. One of Lee's proudest accomplishments was taking his 6U All-star team to become their division's World Champions in July, 2016. His greatest joy in life was spending his time with his wife and three daughters, whether it was attending all of their school events, gymnastics practices, or coaching their softball teams. He will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his willingness to help others in any situation. Lee is survived by his beloved wife of 13 years, Kerri Willcutt Smith; daughters, Tatum Elizabeth Smith, Belle Lauralee Smith, and Blair Lucille Smith; parents, Donnie and Sheila Smith; grandmother, Jacobina Cochran; brothers, Sean Smith (Kelly) and Lonnie Smith (Amy); father and mother-in-law, Tadd and Judy Belle Willcutt; sisters-in-law, Tammi Middleton (John) and Tisha Seale (Jay); nieces and nephews, Savannah Middleton, Summerlyn Middleton, Sheridan Middleton, Madeline Seale, Alex Seale, Olivia Smith, Victoria Smith, Jordan Smith, Jessica Turner, John Earl Kelly, and Trey Booth; many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the service hour. Interment will be in Jubilee Memorial Gardens in Daphne. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Douglas Lee Smith Memorial Fund at any Regions Bank location.
