Cindy was born on April 1, 1953, to Mary and Robert Huff in Keokuk, IA.
In 1970, Cindy met John at The Citadel, and they were married after his graduation in 1972. After John’s Army service, they moved to Saraland in 1976. Cindy and John went on to have three children: Alex, Johnathan, and Maryann.
Cindy ferociously loved, served, and protected her family. To know her was to know someone who gave—a heart full of gratitude and a willingness to help anyone with anything. No one was ever left out when they were in her presence. You felt seen when she was around you.
Cindy served faithfully at the University of Mobile for over 20 years, where she found and served with lifelong friends. She also had a small shop in Saraland called Memory Makers, where you could always find friends stopping by.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Huff and Mary Huff, and brother, Greg Huff. Cindy is survived by her husband, John Bruns; children Alex Bruns (Karen), Johnathan Bruns (Amanda), and Maryann Bruns Dean (Kevin); and grandchildren, Kendall Bruns Whigham, Maddux Bruns, Lila Bruns, Sawyer Bruns, Annabel Bruns, Denson Bruns, Tyson Dean, Charli Ann Dean, and Elle Dean.
Services will be held at Shelton Beach Baptist Church at 401 Shelton Beach Rd., Saraland, AL 36571 on Monday, October 2, 2023, at 10 a.m. Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday, October 1, 2023, from 5-7 p.m. Interment will be held in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
