Vernie Ward Calcagno

Vernie was born in Idabel, Oklahoma January 4, 1943, but lived most of her life in Ventura and Santa Paula CA. She graduated Santa Paula Union High 1960.

Vernie worked in the civil service sector for over 30 years. After retiring she enjoyed crafting, going on cruises and casinos. Her last years she devoted to her family. She loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, where she was their biggest fan. She loved to brag that she had grandkids ranging from age 34 years down to 10 months. She took great pride in having great grandkids around that she could play with on a daily basis. We know she is in heaven dancing with all of our loved ones and watching over us.

Vernie was preceded in death by her parents Pat and Vernie Henthorn, brother Gerald Henthorn, husbands Robert Terry Ward and Aldo Calcagno. She is survived by her children son Kenneth Miller of Elizabeth CO; Daughter Terry “Sissy” Michaud (husband Stephen) of Orange County CA; son Michael Ward (wife Robin) of Parker CO; daughter Jennifer Chatin (husband Mike) of Parker, CO, stepsons Stephen Ward (wife Rhonda) of Puyallup WA and James Ward (wife Donna) of Spirit Lake ID; 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Visitation to be held on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014 from 4 to 8 pm, at Skillin-Carroll Mortuary 738 E. Santa Paula Street, Graveside service to be held Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014 at noon at Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery 380 Cemetery Rd., Reception immediately after burial at the West Coast Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church.
