Richard was born on August 31,1929 to William and Mary Ravizza of Cupertino,California.
He attended Cupertino Elementary School and Fremont High School.He served in the Merchant Marines and Marine Reserves before joining the United States Coast Guard.
He proudly served from February 1948 - July 1952. In October of 1955 he was hired at Santa Clara County Fire Department where he enjoyed a fulfilling career as a firefighter,rising to the rank of Captain,until his retirement in December 1981.
After the death of his father and younger brother, he and his brother Robert ran the family orchard in Patterson for nearly 20 years.
Richard, Dad, Papa, and Papa Papa was known and loved by many.
He loved his family dearly and was proud of each and every one of them.
He never missed a chance to share stories or memories with them and never forgot birthdays or holidays (even for his 4 legged grandkids)
Richard always had a warm smile and a kind word to say to anyone anytime.
Richard is survived by his wife of 75 years, Patricia Ravizza of Santa Clara,
his 4 children Judy Seyfert (husband Greg) of San Martin,Nancy Ravizza of Salinas,
Donald Ravizza (wife Jamie) of Rio Rancho New Mexico and Richard M Ravizza (wife Sharon) of Fremont and,6 grandchildren(Tracy Bettendorf and husband Brian,Tim Seyfert and wife Charlotte “Charlie”, Paula Jacoban,William Hiller and wife Megan, Richard Hiller, Jackson Ravizza)
and 9 great-grandchildren Sarah, Mia, Erik, Cleo, Arya, David, Brittany, Harrison and Colette.He is also survived by his sister Anna Ravizza of San Jose.
He was predeceased in death by his parents William and Mary, brothers William “Billy” and Robert.
Visitation service will be held January 24th from 4:00 to 8:00 at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary. Services will be held at The Church of the Resurrection 725 Cascade Dr. Sunnyvale on January 25th at 9:00am.
Burial will be at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery. Reception to follow at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary 466 N. Winchester. In lieu of flowers,the family requests donations be made to Disabled
Veterans.
