Loving husband of Katie. Devoted dad of David of Capitola (Alicia), Karen of Oakley, and Ken of Morgan Hill (Jacqueline). Grandpa Joe to Adrian, Nick, Alison, Kristina, Kurt, Mitchell, Matthew, and Michael. Brother of Frank Vargas. Brother-in-law of Norman and Mary Maniaci. After 4 years in the Navy during WWII (1941-1945), Joe worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad, retiring after 37 years. Proud 54-year member of Liberty Lodge #299 Free and Accepted Masons in Santa Clara. Joe and Katie loved to travel in their RV, fishing and sight-seeing their way through 48 states. A Masonic Service will be held Wednesday, September 11, at 11:30pm at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd. Interment to follow at Mission City Memorial Park.
