Adolph was born in Dayton, Nevada and has resided in Santa Clara County since 1946. He played basketball at Dayton High School in Nevada, graduated from San Jose's Lincoln High School, received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Santa Clara University (SCU), Advanced Management from Harvard University, and is a member of the Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society. He worked for more than 40 years at FMC Corporation, where he rose from a Junior Design Engineer to the Vice President and General Manager, Defense Systems Group; and is inducted in the Army Ordnance Hall of Fame. He backpacked down the Grand Canyon and other locations; and travelled to numerous countries of the world. He was the Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 336; Silver Beaver recipient; President and Board member of the Santa Clara County Council; and Board member of the Boy Scout Memorial Foundation. He was a Knight of Malta; Board member of the local YMCA, Serra Club, and United Way; SCU Regent; recipient of SCU Ignation, and School of Engineering Distinguished Alumni Awards; numerous activities at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church; volunteered at Martha's Kitchen; member of the San Jose Rotary Club; and tutored 5th graders at Washington School San Jose. He is survived by his wife Rosemary of 66 years; his sister Ada (Joseph) Bommarito; his children John, Joseph (Laurie), Mary (Anthony) Perricone, James (Marci); 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren plus one more on the way; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by John's wife Sarah, and his parents Joseph and Maria. Woodworking was the primary of his numerous hobbies. Memorial donations to the SCU School of Engineering, St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church San Jose, and the Catholic Diocese of San Jose are preferred. Due to the COVID-19 governmental restrictions, the rosary and funeral services are being postponed to a future date when the pandemic is over and churches are re-opened, and an announcement will be made when that occurs.
