December 7, 2023, in Orange, CA. Rudy was born in Galt, Ontario, Canada on October 18, 1939, to parents Renato and Margaret Cherri. Rudy had 2 brothers, Richard (2021) and Ben Cherri. The family moved from Canada to America in 1953 where he graduated from Orange High School Class of 1959.
Rudy was a proud American, and became a citizen of USA April of l963. Rudy served in the Army National Guard for 6 years.
When Rudy was in 8th grade, he met his wife, Jessie Shaw Cherri, and for the next 61 years was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, uncle. They had two sons, Ronald and Michael Cherri.
Rudy retired from the Orange Unified School District in 2002 after 33 years, but continued working part-time for the next 15 years.
The proudest moment of his life was when Rudy came to know Christ at 18 years of age and joined the First Southern Baptist Church of Orange,
serving as Deacon, Sunday School teacher, choir member, Praise Team. For the past 20 years he had the honor of leading the congregation in music, with his wife, Jessie by his side. Above all else, Rudy wanted to be in church, leading the congregation in music and song. His favorite genres of music were Gospel, Elvis, the Beatles, Fab Four and many more. One of Rudy’s happiest times was taking the family to see the Fab Four in Palm Springs for the past 20 years. Being a Canadian, Rudy followed the Kings Ice Hockey Team faithfully!
Rudy is survived by his wife, Jessie, sons, Ron and Michael and a loving, extended family who loved him dearly.
