April 25, 1951 – November 28, 2022
Michael Doi, age 71, died peacefully on November 28 at Kindred Hospital in Brea with his devoted wife Linda by his side, after many years of challenging health issues.
Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mike grew up in Rochester, New York and moved to North Hills, California in 1965.
He was preceded in death by his mother Sachie Doi. His father, Tom, passed just weeks after Mike on December 20, 2022, at the age of 101.
In 1969, Mike graduated from James Monroe High School located in North Hills in Southern California. He earned a B.A. in Psychology from California State University, Northridge in 1974 and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from USC in 1976. Mike’s career revolved around accounting and finance management.
He was devoted to his family - Linda, his partner for 36 years; his only child Jennifer; his two granddaughters, Olivia, age 8, and Alice, age 5; two older siblings, Tom Doi and Marcia Mahony; as well as a stepson, Deno Ferraro, 54.
Mike had a fun sense of adventure and loved river rafting on the Truckee River during his annual summer vacations in Lake Tahoe with Linda, family, and friends. Additionally, Mike loved their many trips up and down the California coast. He also enjoyed their trip to Italy and Sicily and especially enjoyed their time in Sicily visiting Linda’s father’s hometown of Gela.
Mike loved travel and adventure; however, he loved his USC Football team more. An avid fan of his beloved Trojans, Mike never missed watching his team any chance he got, often rearranging his schedule accordingly.
Mike was a gentleman of quiet dignity, and his heart was open to everyone. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew and loved him as a gentle spirit, with a fun sense of humor, along with his kind, loving demeanor.
