To know him is to Love him
Dave entered this world on July 16, 1954 born to Velma and Carl Cary in Springfield Illinois. The family relocated to Garden Grove, California when he was 9 years old. He graduated Santiago High School Class of 1972, studied at Santa Ana College. He began his career in aerospace at SPS Technologies in 1973 where he utilized his vast knowledge of engineering and mathematics achieving status as a Master Tool and Dye Specialist. He retired from SPS at age 62 in 2016 and continued to enjoy the many friendships created there.
A simple man who enjoyed and loved a simple life. Dave’s greatest asset was himself. He was who he was, never pretended otherwise. His quick wit, humor and loving heart brightened the lives of the many he touched. Rarely did a day go by that he didn’t crack a joke or make us laugh. Dave never knew a stranger. Dave’s greatest passions were love of family and friends, children and animals. He loved to tinker with Lola his 1971 Camaro Z/28, entertaining family and friends around the BBQ and pool, football, golf and traveling. He loved music, Oldies, Elvis, Dino, Country all which he listened to and knew the lyrics to so many. Every now and then he would belt out a tune with his impressive baritone voice. His favorite shows were American Street Racers, History Channel, Aliens, American Pickers for its history and Two and a Half Men. His favorite movies – Once Upon a Wild West and Shawshank Redemption which he watched so many times he knew the script. His favorite actor was John Wayne.
Dave’s untimely passing has left a void which can never be filled because his presence was so big. He is survived by his Love and Life Partner Barbara, his beloved son Drew, sisters Nancy Hubbard, Linda Forshay, Ruth Lawson, and Kathy Brader along with several nieces and nephews Gary, Laura, Jason, Jay, Jody, Prudy, Candy and several grand and great nieces and nephews; stepchildren Michael, Jeffrey, Lynne; Grandchildren Colby, Cory, Taylor, Ava and Grant, and great granddaughter Olivia. He also leaves behind so many great, longtime and loyal friends.
