Phil was born in San Antonio Texas on July 28th, 1976.
Phil graduated from Hawthrone High School in Hawthrone, New Jersey. He further studied at University of North Carolina- Charlotte.
He was married to Lindsay A. (Hermans) Smock on 3/25/2011. Lindsay and Phil enjoyed 18 years together. They have two young boys, Chase and Dylan. He enjoyed coaching Chase in baseball, supporting Dylan in karate, and his time spent with family. Phil was always encouraging his boys to be strong, independent, and self-sufficient young men. Phil loved his four-legged family members- Jake, Mickey, and Emma. His other passions included fishing, boating, cooking, and golfing.
Phil and the family enjoyed spending annual 4th of July trips to Texas visiting his parents and family as well as Thanksgiving holidays with his in-laws preparing and smoking the turkey. In his younger days, Phil enjoyed spending a lot of time in Iowa at his grandparent’s farm and time spent with his Grandma Jaleen.
Phil was a man of strong conviction and everyone that knew him will remember him for his witty sarcastic sense of humor.
He currently was employed by D.R. Horton Homes as Superintendent of Construction in the Sanford area.
He will always be remembered by his loving wife, Lindsay and sons, Chase and Dylan; his father and stepmother Bradley and Sheila Smock; his mother and stepfather Karen and Bill Bennett; brothers, Justin (Heather) Smock, Austin Smock, and Bradley Smock; stepbrother, Taylor Bennett; father- and mother-in law, Dan and Mary Jo Hermans; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jenna and Travis Nickel; nieces and nephews, Hannah and Aidan Smock, Griffen, Egan, and Cullen Nickel. Further survived by grandmother, Betty Boyles. Predeceased by grandparents, William (Bill) Boyles, Pete Smock, Jaleen Smock-Fassbinder (Jerry). Phil will be missed by other family members and friends.
A private service for Phil’s immediate family will be held.
