Phillip Daniel Frier left this Earth on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, in Sanford, Florida. A true 'Georgia' boy, he was born on May 2, 1953, in Marietta, to Daniel Eugene Frier and Olive Pendlebury Frier. His love for Georgia Tech, Atlanta Braves, John Wayne movies, a good cup of coffee, and southern cuisine was only surpassed by his love for his family. A talented guitar player, he also enjoyed Rock N’ Roll, the beach, playing chess with his grandson and walking his dog.
Phillip was naturally curious and had an aptitude for taking things apart to see “how they worked.” He graduated from Southern Tech/Georgia Tech with a degree in Industrial Engineering and later earned his MBA from Webster University. After relocating with his family to Central Florida in 1980, he spent the bulk of his career at Lockheed-Martin as an Operations Director for many high-profile aerospace projects, including flight simulators for the US Military and NASA.
Never one to pass up a good meal, a game of cards, or a laugh, he was known as an optimistic guy with a great deal of compassion for those around him. All who loved him would agree he lived fully and humbly. He, himself, agreed with Will Rogers that “a stranger is just a friend I haven’t met yet.” We will miss his silliness, his Trivial Pursuit skills, his very loud wardrobe of Hawaiian Shirts, and his morning texts wishing us all a “happy day.”
He is preceded in death by both of his parents, his second wife, Lynne Westbrook Frier, his brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Peggy Frier, and nephews David, Casey, and Carson.
Phillip will be forever remembered by those he left behind, including his daughter and son-in-law Philana and Benjamin Haumiller, son Joe and daughter-in-law Chrissy Frier, grandchildren Mikayla, Michael and Rylan, first wife Lynn Favero, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews (including a great-great niece and nephew!), grand-puppies, devoted neighbors, new and old friends, and his beloved Beagle-Hound rescue dog and best friend, Bailey.
A small Celebration of Life will be held by his family later this year.
If anyone wishes, donations can be made in his name to the Central Florida Humane Society (https://theanimalleague.org/).
