Karissa Dove Crotsley, 26, of Sanford, Florida, passed away on April 29, 2014. She was born October 25, 1987 in Bethesda, Maryland.
Karissa grew up in Northern Virginia where her parents served as US Marines.
Karissa was a Girl Scout for many years, where she made many lifelong friends and where her mother volunteered as a leader. Karissa began playing fast pitch softball at 6 years old, first being coached by Dale Hill and her mother, and became an avid catcher for the VA Comets travel tournament team of which her mother also coached with Danny Brooks out of Fredericksburg, VA.
Karissa attended CD Hylton High School in Woodbridge, VA and then moved to Florida, where she became a fourth generation graduate of Seminole High School, Sanford. Karissa played volleyball for both high schools and was the libero under Coach Beth Corso at Seminole High.
Karissa worked as a property & casualty insurance Risk Management Analyst for BB&T corporate in their Maitland, FL office.
Karissa was also an avid competitive dart player and a member of the C & Darts community and was loved by everyone who played with her.
She was known by all for her beautiful smile, contagious, bubbly personality and a heart of gold.
She is survived by her mother, Teresa Dove Behrens of Winter Springs, FL; great aunt & uncle Claudette and Gerald Behrens of Lake Mary, FL; uncle Billy Behrens of Eustis, FL; aunt & uncle Mary & Eddie Behrens of Deltona, FL; aunt & uncle Ginger & David Mansour of Eustis, FL; uncle Jeff Behrens of Key West, FL; aunt & uncle Suzanne & Ward Behrens of Sanford, FL Cousins: Bambi Behrens Copeland of Sanford, FL; C.J. Behrens, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ; Jewell Sears of Douglas, GA; Brandi Jo Behrens of San Antonio, TX; Ryan Chabrecek of Deltona, FL; Cole Behrens of Douglas, GA; Ashley Behrens of Sanford, FL; Brissa Jo Behrens of Orange City, FL; and Cody Behrens of Sanford, FL.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 4pm at Central Baptist Church of Sanford with a special gravesite service to follow at Sylvan Lake Cemetery, Wayside Drive, Sanford, FL. A reception will follow from 6-8PM at Lake Mary Presbyterian Church, 128 W. Wilbur Avenue, Lake Mary, FL.
