Janet W. Burkett, 85, of Geneva, Florida was promoted to glory to be with her Lord and Savior on August 3, 2014. Born in Whitehaven, Tennessee on March 10th 1929 she is predeceased by her parents Veston and Louise White and her husband Harold Burkett and survived by her two older sisters Anne Ramay of Madison, Georgia and Martha Francis (Sissy) Franks of Memphis, Tennessee. Janet is also survived by Sissy’s husband Jack Franks that she has loved like a brother for over 60 years. She and her sisters graduated from Horn Lake High School in Mississippi and Janet continued on to receive her Bachelors’ Degree from Memphis State University in education. It was her love of children and teaching that brought her to Titusville, Florida where she became an elementary school teacher. She touched the lives and minds of many children in Titusville until her retirement in 1994 with over 34 years of service in the local school system. It was in Titusville that she met and married her late husband of over 40 years James Harold Burkett. She is survived by her oldest daughter Dotti and her husband Perry Dreggors of Geneva, and her youngest daughter Becky and her husband Daniel Frank of Glasgow, Scotland. She leaves behind many loving moments and memories in the hearts of her grandchildren oldest to youngest; Dustin Blayne, BJ Marlin, Lyle Hunter (fiancée Ally Warren), Brooke, Bethany Di and Layne Alan. She also leaves behind a great granddaughter Shyla Rene Burkett whom she loved very much. She is also survived by her nephew John Ramay, Hazlehurst, Georgia and her niece Ms. James (Janet) Woodard of Madison, Georgia and their families. Janet was blessed in this life knowing that she was loved. It has been said that family is not always blood, it is the people in your life who want you in theirs. Family is about the people who accept you as you are, the ones who would do anything to make you smile and those who love you no matter what. She is survived by a multitude of individuals who were family in her heart; specifically two individuals that she considered her angels; Ms. Frances Ramay who greeted her in heaven as the angel of her youth and her “Old age Angel” Linda Chaudoin of Geneva who loved her more than words can express in this life. Both of her angels have shared their lives and families with her and have given unmeasurable memories and love to her life. Janet is also survived by Midge Brewer of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Joyce Whitehorn of Titusville, FL; she has loved them both like sisters. Janet was a Charter Member of the Chapter BT PEO Sisterhood, an organization near and dear to her heart with members of her chapter and others that have blessed her life through their friendship and support. She was blessed in her attendance and relationships at the Living Word Church of the Nazarene, Geneva, FL. Janet’s life will be celebrated with a viewing on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014 at North Brevard Funeral Home on US 1 in Titusville from 6 to 8 pm with services being held at the Nazarene Church on Hwy 46 in Geneva, FL at 11:00 am on Friday Aug 8, 2014; followed by graveside services at Oaklawn Cemetery, corner of Hwy 46a (25th Street) and Rinehart Rd., Lake Mary, Florida.
