December 5, 1947 – September 28, 2024
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Geary Ray Girard, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was 76.
Geary was born on December 5, 1947 in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to parents Ray and Lovene Girard. He was raised in Lavaca until the family moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma, in the late 1950’s. Geary graduated from Ardmore High School in 1965. He married the love of his life, Vicki L. Girard on September 6, 1969 in Ardmore and shared 55 beautiful years of marriage.
Raised with a strong work-ethic and dedication to family values, Geary also loved to have fun. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed sharing stories of his adventures as a youth, experiences at work, family vacations and time spent golfing with friends. An avid golfer, Geary was self-taught and played very well. His regular group of friends played together every Saturday morning for nearly 30 years. He also loved Oklahoma Sooner football and followed it closely. Geary loved to travel and enjoyed time he spent in Germany, Italy, and Ireland among others. Most of all, Geary found immense joy in spending time with his family and especially his grandson. He leaves them with endless memories of time spent doing things together, playing golf, throwing a baseball, swimming in the pool, going to concerts and theme parks, and living life to the fullest. The example he set as a man of strength, honor and integrity was second to none.
Geary dedicated his career to Siemens (formerly known as Stromberg-Carlson) in telecommunications manufacturing. His career began as a stock clerk at Stromberg-Carlson in Ardmore, OK. Through hard work and dedication, he earned many promotions and accolades over the years. During this time, he completed his Bachelor Degree at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1981. In June of 1983, he was transferred to the plant in Lake Mary, FL, as a Manager of Master Scheduling. The family moved to Longwood, Florida, and later to the Lake Mary/Sanford area. He retired as a Director of Manufacturing Logistics and Planning in 2007 after forty years with the company.
Geary is survived by his wife of 55 years, Vicki L. Girard of Sanford, Florida; one daughter, Amie Girard Hanrahan and her husband Dan Hanrahan of Lake Mary, Florida; one grandson, Ryan Patrick Hanrahan of Lake Mary, Florida; one sister: Ann Girard Phillips of Emmett, Idaho; and two brothers: Steve and Janet Girard of Ardmore, Oklahoma; and Dale and Cyndi Girard of Rotonda West, Florida.
A celebration of life for Geary will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at 1:30 pm at the Lake Forest Community Clubhouse in Sanford, FL. Please RSVP to Amie at [email protected] to be added to the security guard gate list.
