He received his electrician's apprenticeship in August of 1976 and became a Journeyman with Local Union 606. He had a career as an electrician with Local Union 606, IBEW 861, and IBEW 479. He was a member and vice president of the Sanford 4x4 Club in the early 80's. He had a passion for music, helping his brother "Dutch", nice cars and 4x4 trucks, and life itself. He was extremely proud of his children and loved his family and fellow 272 brothers. 
One of Gary's greatest accomplishments was that he was in the Marines and served his country during the Vietnam War.
Gary is survived by his children, Jodee Raynell Omey, Khristopher Gray Omey and wife, Amanda; grandchildren, Cole Frost, Kace Omey, and Kendall Newland; siblings, Patricia (Pat) Miller and husband, Charlie, Ellen (Bubba) Thompson and husband, Wayne, and William (Dutch) Omey and wife, Kathy. 
Gary is preceded in death by his baby girl Karrie Omey and parents, Arnold and Doris Omey.
A celebration of life with family and friends for Gary will be held in Georgia at a later date.
