Gene was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on February 20, 1964, and graduated from Deland High School in 1982. He graduated from Northeast Louisiana University (now University of Louisiana Monroe) with a degree in business management. He earned his master’s degree in divinity from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary.
Gene was married to Gladys Adams on November 18, 1995, and they celebrated their 29th anniversary in November.
Gene faithfully pastored River of Life Church of Volusia for 24 years and First Baptist of Lake Monroe since 2011. Before that, Gene was a pastor at Locke Station Baptist Church in Marks, Mississippi, and a pastor at Willingham Memorial Baptist Church in Ridgely, Tennessee. Gene was the chaplain at Seminole County Sheriff’s Office up until his passing.
Gene unwaveringly served the Lord by directing the local Mission Possible Camp youth program and the annual Christmas in the Country event held at River of Life Church of Volusia. Gene and Gladys also led the local R.O.L. 4-H Club.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Gregory Sr. and Linda Gregory. He is survived by his spouse Gladys Gregory, his son Andrew (Sarah) Gregory and his brothers Destry (Maria) Gregory and Travis (Jennifer) Gregory along with their families.
The Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. ET on December 21st at Central Church (3101 FL-46, Sanford, FL 32771).
The family is requesting that, in lieu of flowers, please make donations to either River of Life Church of Volusia or Gene Gregory Memorial Fund for Bi-Vocational Pastors/Ministries.
