Duane Richard Bowen

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday December 15th, 2018, with a reception to follow from 11:45am to 1:45pm at Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel; 5000 County Road 46A, Sanford, Florida 32771. David Bellow, Senior Pastor, of Christ Church of Marion County will be officiating.

Duane was born in Batavia, New York on November 30th, 1939. His family relocated to Central Florida when he was 14 years old. He graduated from Edgewater High School and went on to enlist in the Army and became a Staff Sargent.

Duane worked as an Area Director with Wendy’s for many years. He was in the restaurant industry for most of his working career, including managing the first Red Lobster to ever open in Lakeland, Florida. He was actively involved in charity work. He would frequently devote his time to Christ Church of Marion County doing maintenance for the church. Duane devoted most of his charitable time to providing food to families in need through Christ Church of Marion County’s Sharing Hope organization. He would deliver up to 10,000.00 dollars’ worth of food and needed items monthly to families in his community.

Loved ones that cleared the path for Duane are his father Richard Wells Bowen and his mother Arlene Erma Seifert Bowen. Loved ones that will miss Duane until they meet again are his son Gregory Bowen and daughter in-law Kimberly Bowen; his son Darrel Bowen and daughter in-law Harumi Bowen and Kuni Tomita; and his grandchildren Hannah Bowen, Noelle Bowen, Christina Bowen, Rachelle Bowen, Arthur Bowen, and Emily Bowen. His sister Lois Arlene Hardy; his sister Sharon Fulford and brother in-law Richard Fulford; his twin brother Dean Bowen and sister in-law Jody Bowen; his brother Gary Bowen and sister in-law Liz Bowen; and his sister Dixie Yeomans and brother in-law Gary Yeomans; along with many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Christ Church of Marion County “Sharing Hope” at 6768 S.W. 80th Street, Ocala, Florida 34476-3892.
