Rand, Charles M., 63, passed away on February 25, 2018. He was born on February 7, 1955 in Westchester, NY. He graduated from Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Economics and later earned his J.D. from the University of Florida. He moved to the Orlando area in 1981 to pursue his legal career. Charlie was the proud father of his two children, Bryan and Katie, a lawyer for over 33 years, a Rotarian and Paul Harris Fellow with 32 years of perfect attendance. In addition to his two children, Charlie is survived by his sister Debbie and was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Anne Rand, and his brother, Tim. Charlie was an avid member of the Lake Mary Rotary Club and served as District Governor for Rotary District 6980 in 2010-2011. He managed his own Personal Injury law firm in Longwood from 1992-2012 and was retired at the time of his passing. Charlie believed strongly in service above self and served as Chair and Board Member of the Center for Drug Free Living and Michelee Puppets, Inc., was a mentor for Take Stock in Children at Lake Mary High School for six years, and taught Junior Achievement classes for four years. Before every project he would always ask his fellow volunteers and Rotarians, “Is it fun?”. Charlie’s strong passion for life was demonstrated by his infectious smile, sharp wit, and unrelenting desire to help others, both in his professional and personal capacities. Above all other accomplishments, Charlie took most pride in raising his two children and watching them lead productive lives. A Memorial Service will be held on March 11th at 11am at the Lake Mary Marriott. In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to donate in Charlie’s honor, to the Rotary International Foundation at www.rotaryinternational.org or Michelee Puppets, Inc. at www.micheleepuppets.org/donate.
