Betty Lou was born in Miami to Roy and Pearl Partin. In 1945 she moved to Sanford, Florida. While at Seminole High School she was a cheerleader and in 1951, the year she graduated from high school, Betty Lou was named “Miss Sanford”. She attended College at Stetson University where, as a Freshman, she was named “Miss Stetson”. Betty Lou married Bill Whitaker in 1952 and had three sons: Hurley Partin, William Bray (Billy), and David Cole. Before Bill’s passing in March, he recalled her influence in his early legal career as “instrumental” to his success. After her divorce with Bill, she raised her boys. Her second husband, Murray Brooks, was a positive father figure to Billy and Cole while Hurley was in college. Her final marriage was to August Bruns (Auggie). Betty Lou and Augie loved to travel together on cruises. She had a full life and lived in Orlando, Longwood, Atlanta and Melbourne. Betty Lou was predeceased by two sisters and her brother; Audry Gurnee, Doris Schautteet and Archie Roy Partin, Jr. (“Choo”). She is survived by her sister Margaret Inghram, her three sons, four grandchildren; Cole Whitaker, Jr., Tiffany Tarr, Partin Whitaker, Kelly Anne Whitaker, and two great grandsons; Fritz Heinricher and Cameron Tarr.
