Alberta Logan Powell

Alberta L. Powell, 91, of Sanford, Florida, passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday May 30, 2018. Bertie was born on July 31, 1926 in Quincy, Illinois to the late William and Della Logan. She settled in the Sanford area over 57 years ago where she raised her family with her husband Robert. She was a proud Navy wife and talented seamstress. Bertie spent her life supporting her family making her children and husband her life’s priority. She was preceded in death in 2011 by her beloved husband of 66 years, Robert H. Powell, Sr. Bertie is survived by her children, Robert H. Powell, Jr. and Linda Diane Groover, her grandchildren; Robert H. Powell, III (Rhonda), Angela Marie Collins (Mike), Cherie Lynn Griffith (Alex), Travis Lee Groover (Deborah), Stefany Diane Rhoades (Jason) and Matthew Logan Groover (Courtney) and 15 great-grandchildren.

A visitation is scheduled for Friday June 8, 2018 from 12:00 ~ 1:00 P.M. at the Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel, located at 5000 County Road 46A, Sanford, Florida 32771. The service will follow the visitation in the chapel at 1:00 P.M. with the interment to immediately follow the service at Oaklawn Park Cemetery.
