She graduated Cass High School, near Cartersville, in 1954 (with honors!) and soon thereafter launched a career that spanned her entire work life.
Starting as a law librarian in nearby Rome, she made the leap to Atlanta – and to new roles as a wife and as an employee of Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton – in 1961.
Married to Hugh Wadkins, Sue continued in various positions at the law firm for 35 years, watching it grow from 17 attorneys to hundreds, and helping shape an administrative staff with exceptional capabilites.
Sue and Hugh also thrived, welcoming daughter Joan in 1965. The family transferred to the West Coast in 1972, returning to Atlanta in 1975 and – for Sue – to the Kilpatrick fold. She retired March 1, 2001 to pursue her love of travel and reading.
Sue Wadkins is survived by her daughter and her grandson, Duncan Goldberg (whose verve is reminiscent of his grandfather’s, a comfort to Sue after she was widowed in 1994) as well as by two of her eight siblings: Pat Guyton and Loretta Aldredge.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Emory University Brain Health Center, 1762 Clifton Road, Suite 1400, Atlanta GA 30322.
