Sherri Lynn Giles, age 74 of Alpharetta, joined her loving heavenly Father on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. She was born to the late Eugene Housel and Ferne Vanderkolk Housel on April 26, 1947 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Sherri attended Rollins College from 1965-1969, where she became a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. During that time, she represented the community as Miss Winter Park and enjoyed many civic responsibilities. She graduated from Rollins with an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, then earned her Masters degree shortly thereafter from the Crummer Graduate School of Business and Finance.
After graduating, she moved to Hartford, Connecticut where she met her husband of 21 years. They eventually relocated to Cumming, Georgia and started a family.
Sherri spent her life caring for others. To her three daughters and their families, the children in her home daycare, the elderly mother she cared for, her lifelong friends, and just about everyone she met, Sherri was loving, selfless, and kind.
The love she so freely shared with others was a reflection of the love she found in her personal relationship with God. That deep relationship, through a life of often great adversity, filled her with an even greater joy.
Sherri is survived by her three daughters- April Leigh Adriansen of Alpharetta, GA along with her husband, Lauritz Jr., and four children Lauritz III, Nataleigh, Vander, and Zachary; Kathryn Elizabeth Morris of Sharpsburg, GA along with her husband, Kerry and their child Abigail and with her stepchildren Trent and Tyler; and Mary Margaret Giles of Alpharetta, GA along with her sweet cat, Mia. She is also survived by her lifetime friend, Gale Whitehurst of Thomasville, GA.
The family wishes to thank all of those who have extended emotional support for Sherri and her daughters during her final days. She requested to be buried next to her parents at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs, GA. For those who have known Sherri and her daughters, her memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, April 22nd at 11:00AM at H.M. Patterson and Son Arlington Chapel located at 173 Allen Road NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
In lieu of flowers, check donations can be mailed to the Word of Life Association, a Christian organization, located at 155 Corinth Court, Roswell, GA 30075 or The Humane Society of Cobb County at https://humanecobb.com/ways-to-give/donate/.
