Robert Vance Elliott, 90, of Nashville, Tennessee, died Sunday, March 29, 2015. Mr. Elliott, longtime resident of Atlanta is remembered as a leader in his church, while a member at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church. Mr. Elliott, an Insurance executive with Employers Mutual of Wausau, while in Atlanta, later formed Elliott and Associates Insurance Agency, In Nashville, Tennessee, and Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. He was well respected in each of the business communities. Bob was instrumental in the formation of Boys Baseball of Buckhead later known as Northside Youth Organization at Chastain Park. He had several roles including “Commissioner” and Manager of several teams. His Stan Musial teams enjoyed success including a 1969 national championship. In Nashville he was one of the original founders and owners of the Nashville Sounds Professional organization. Mr. Elliott was a graduate of The University of Tennessee, where he played both baseball and basketball and later played professionals in the St. Louis Browns organization. A very proud Veteran, Mr. Elliott, served his country as a B-24 pilot in the Us Air Force. He flew several missions over Germany. He was shot down over Berlin, on one mission, but was able to get back across enemy lines. Friends remember how he loved to tell stories about his service days. Mr. Elliott was preceded in death by his parents, Houston and Gertrude Elliott, brother, Carlyle Elliott, wife and mother, Joann Scott Elliott, sons, Lawrence Scott Elliott, Joseph Michael Elliott, wife, Elizabeth, “Cookie", Elliott. Surviving are his son, Robert V. Elliott (Bobby), daughters, Debbie Elliott Bruce, husband Jim Bruce, Pam Elliott Breazeale, husband Clay, Lynn Elliott Shriner, husband Dave, and Beth Elliott. He leaves behind five grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Visitation at H. M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, NE, Sandy Springs, will be Thursday, April 2 at 2:00 with a graveside service to follow at 3:00 at Arlington Memorial Park, Sandy Springs. A Celebration of Life service, honoring Mr. Elliott will be held at Belle Meade Methodist Church, Nashville, Tennessee on Monday, April 20, 2015, at 11:00am.
