Robert B. Curley, born in Denver, Colorado on July 24, 1947, to Robert Vincent Curley and Eileen Elizabeth Curley, passed gently and peacefully in his sleep July 6th. He grew up in Sandy Springs, GA and was a ‘proud member’ of Boy Scout Troop 59, active in marching band as well as the Human International Club in high school. Robert attended and graduated from Mercer University with a double major in History and Political Science. From 1971-1976, he was an ROTC Commission in the Army with active-duty assignments (1st Lieutenant), starting with Basic Training in Indianapolis, IN at Fort Benjamin Harrison, followed by 2 years at The Presidio of San Francisco. While still at The Presidio, he simultaneously underwent Curricular Duty in the MEA program at San Francisco State and then continued while in the Reserves.
In 1971, Robert became an Adjutant General of the 6th US Army at The Presidio, working as a Top-Secret Control Agent responsible for the security of high-level documents. He also devoted time monthly as the speaker for their Retirement Services. Robert loved serving his country.
Upon commencing Reserve Duty in 1973, Robert moved back to Atlanta, 3 years later forming Robert Curley & Associates (a manufacturer’s rep business) with his brother, Kent, working alongside their dad. He excelled in sales for 30 years.
From 2010 – 2020, Robert shifted careers to become a Demonstration Chef at Publix, a truly enjoyable experience he held close to his heart. Unable to physically continue with current duties, he retired in January 2024. His love for Publix, staff and customers will live on as he touched the lives of all who crossed his path.
Robert – known by his friends and family as Bryant – will be remembered for his magnetic personality, frequent smiles, sense of humor, love of history, politics, and baseball (Go, Braves!). He never grew tired of asking how others were doing, nor of expressing how greatly appreciative he was for the care received by all around him.
Robert is survived by his sister Jane (Eric) Lanigan, brother Kent, several nieces (Erica, Amanda, Emily) and nephews (Roddy, Kyle, Robert), one great niece (Carter) and two great nephews (Anders, William).
May you rest in peace, Bryant. We miss you.
A celebration of life for Robert will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mount Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. A reception will follow the Celebration of Life until 12:50 pm. A graveside service will follow the reception at 1:00 PM at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mount Vernon Highway, Sandy Springs, Georgia 30328.
At the request of Mr. Curley prior to passing, please do not wear all black, wear bright happy and vibrant colors.
