Penny was born April 20th, 1941 in Irvington, New Jersey to mother Sylvia and father Isidore Warren, it was there where she developed her lifelong love for horses and farm animals. She moved to Long Island, NY with her family where she graduated from Oceanside High School in 1958, and attended Adelphi College in Garden City, NY.
As a young girl, Penny was a “tomboy” who loved all sports. She was a lifelong New York Yankees fan, who at 13 years old, was kissed by one of the greatest New York Yankees, Mickey Mantle. In 1972 she created the New York Islanders fan club and served as their first president. Subsequently, she worked at Madison Square Garden where she managed the group sales department for the New York Knicks, New York Rangers and the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus.
She moved to Atlanta in 1983, where she resumed her love, horses. There she ran the Huntcliff Club Equestrian Center, where she shared her love with others, including groups of children with her ever-loved “Horse Camp.” At 4”11, she was a bundle of energy who was humorous and warm, and known for embodying a generous spirit to all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of almost 40 years, Hawley T Chester III, their four children Mark, Jill, Stacey, Narrie, and nine grandchildren, Tabitha, Meghan, Gabriella, Adam, Daniella, Christian, Isabella, Ansley, and Ariel. Her brother Richard Warren predeceased her and she is survived by her siblings, Ruthann and Jerry Warren, and her aunt Sherry and cousins Tina and Bruce Moreno.
Penny was a special friend to anyone who ever needed a kind word and moment of her time. She was the most selfless woman and a gift to those who knew her. A celebration of life will be held in the near future. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Family Residences and Essential Enterprises Inc.
