Marjorie Marie Early

Mrs. Marjorie Hood Early died on November 14, 2011. Born on June 30, 1925 in Mt. Olive, NC, she was the daughter of Mattie Eva (Jones) and Willie Lemuel Hood. She graduated from Mt. Olive High School in 1942. After graduation she worked in Goldsboro, NC for the Western Union Co. It was there that she met her future husband, Roland Alexander Early. Roland’s later work with the Sperry and Hutchinson Co. led them to eventually move to Atlanta, where they happily settled raising their family of four children. Margie was a caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved her family, working hard to make any time with them a special one, cooking wonderful meals and enjoying the laughter and fun when everyone could be together. She was a wonderful homemaker and caretaker of those around her. She was especially proud of her time volunteering as a “Pink Lady” at Piedmont Hospital. Her caring ways were always felt in the love and support that she shared with her family and friends. She was a member of the Sandy Springs Methodist Church. Margie was predeceased by her husband, Roland and one son, William Alexander. She is survived by her children, Vaughan and Genie Early of Perry, FL; Donna and Timothy Burchett of Fredericksburg, VA; Beverly Early, wife of William Early, deceased, and Ann and Charles Kistner of Rockport, MA; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one very special friend of 45 years, Mary Ellen Carson. She was blessed to have had many wonderful friends and neighbors, all of whom she loved and appreciated. The family thanks them for their caring and support especially over the past few years. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 17 at 11:00 a.m. at Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mt. Vernon Hwy.NE, Sandy Springs, GA. The service will be conducted by Marjorie's grandson, Rev. P. Alex Early. The family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Sandy Springs Methodist Church, 86 Mt. Vernon Hwy., Sandy Springs, GA. 30328.
