Kenneth Marshall Shumard, age 79 of Atlanta, GA passed away on February 14, 2023. He is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Brenda Joyce (Smelser) Shumard; his three children and their spouses, Julie and Donald Potts of Marietta, GA, Ken, Jr. and Connie Shumard of Dunwoody, GA and Bob and Carrie Shumard of Duluth, GA; his brother Bob and Barbara Shumard of Blanchester, OH; nine nieces and nephews; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Ken was born in Blanchester, OH where he grew up on a dairy farm. After graduating high school, he attended Lipscomb University where he met Joyce. They were married 3/15/64, in Nashville, TN. After finishing college they moved to Endicott, NY to help with a church plant and started their family, Ken first, then Bob two years later. Some years later they moved to Milford, OH and adopted Julie. N 1980, the family moved to Atlanta, GA where Ken co-owned a coffee business for some time. He eventually started Medical Doctor Associates which grew into a very productive company.
After selling the business he started a foundation which has filled his “retirement” years with the joy of blessing others. Ken has served in many positions in the church including, song leader, teacher, deacon and elder. His philanthropic work has touched the lives of many and is evidence of his love for the Lord. Today we celebrate his life as he joins those who preceded his death, namely his sister Wanda just last year. His legacy is his family and the work done in the name of the Lord and His kingdom.
