Harvey Jackson Smith, age 84, passed away on July 18, 2016. “Jack” was born in Villa Rica, Georgia on August 31, 1931 to Mattie M. and Homer L. Smith. Jack graduated from Villa Rica High School in 1949 and then joined the U.S. Navy in 1951, where he served his country until 1955. After leaving the service he began his career with AT&T (Southern Bell) as a telephone installer. Jack proudly installed the 100,000th telephone in the Northeast Atlanta region. During his 42 years with AT&T, he became an Account Manager working with several corporations. He was also a part of the Communications Team for the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. Jack was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling to many different tournaments. Jack is preceded in death by his sons, Jeffery and Scott Smith; parents, Homer L. and Mattie M. Smith, and brother, Lewis M. Smith. He is survived by sisters, Joyce Cunningham of Mattoon, IL and Glenda (Larry) Lewis of Cumming, GA; sister in law, Carlene Smith of Euharlee, GA; brother, Gary Smith of Hiawassee, GA; nieces and nephews, Richard Smith, Lori (Chris) Donovan, Carnell (Anja) Cunningham, Leigh Ann (Ron) Mienert, and Melissa (Carl) Willis; great nieces and nephews, Dr. Lewis (Mac) Smith, Scott Smith, Jacque Smith, Pia Cunningham, Louis Cunningham, Addison Mienert, Aidan Mienert, Mattie Paige Willis, and Juliana Willis. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 21, 2016 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM and again on Friday, July 22 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM at Sandy Springs Chapel. 136 Mt.
