Our beautiful boy Devran passed away on December 22, 2022. He had struggled with addiction for over a decade but had decided 5 years ago that he wanted to change his life and so had sought help. He was actually asked to become a part of the recovery team where he watched after those in recovery and actually would go out and and retrieve those in need in the very worst parts of town and bring them back to a rehab or recovery facility. He had done so well that 2 years ago he decided he wanted to obtain his college degree so that he could make the biggest impact on helping those with addiction and mental illness problems. He loved college at GSU and found all his studies interesting and challenging so much that he was on the Dean's List and was looking forward to 2023. He had 2 loving older brothers and his own dog and companion Rose who was a rescue Bit Bull. His life had become school and his dog as well as his family. Throughout middle school and high school he had excelled in lacrosse, football and basketball but also loved snowboarding, skateboarding and gaming. We spent more real quality time with Devran in the past 4 years than we had the previous 10 years or so and we are devastated and heartbroken over his departure. He has left a hole in our life but we shall remember him forever and all that he accomplished after he decided to make a change in his life. We were always proud of him after he decided to help others and especially after he decided to get his degree. The greatest satisfaction he found was helping others find recovery and helping them stay sober. Our memories of Devran will always include some great laughs because of his unique sense of humor. We will miss you, Rest in Peace son. In lieu of flowers please reach out to those who might be struggling with this deadly disease that is addiction.
