I hardly knew Camille. We went to elementary school together, and I only saw her once outside of class at a friend's sleepover birthday party. All I remember from that day was our friend telling us Camille looked peaceful when she slept. I had heard about her passing when it happened because someone posted about it on social media, but it felt weird at the time to try to speak on her life when I was such a small part of it. Her name popped into my head today, and that led me here. I read all of the kind comments people who knew her had left, and they make me wish I had known her better. I hope it might be helpful to know that even people who didn't know her well still think about her even after time has passed. That was the impact she had. I wish I could offer more, but I send my condolences to her family and friends and I hope she is at peace. 

Happy Birthday, Camille. I miss you a ton.

Camille and I were born on the same day. When we met, and we realized we lived down the street from each other, I felt so lucky. Camille was someone whose house I would go to every day or if I ever felt lonely we’d eat dinner or ice cream. I had never had a go to friend like she was to me over time we drifted some but we never stopped talking every week until she passed away. Now that six months has gone by, I can assure you it is not any easier without you here. I miss my friend, and the place to stay that she would always give me, and vice versa, I’m so sorry you’re gone and I wish I could bring u back I’ll miss u forever


Dear Camille,
It's been about five whole months since you passed. I miss you. So much. I knew you at PHP and residential and you meant so much to me. Posting this is probably pointless, but maybe someone, somewhere, who cares will see it and know how much you meant to the people around you. You were like a big sister to me. I never told you that, but you were. I think about you all the time. I read your note in my goodbye book every night. You are a beautiful human being. I choose to say are instead of were because you're still here. In your family's hearts, your friends hearts, and my heart. You changed my life. Thank you.

Although over two months have passed since I learned Camille passed, I wanted to offer my condolences and express my shock and sorrow.

I first met Camille when I joined AGS in seventh grade. In fact, the pool party where I first met my new classmates was held at Camille's house. 

Although I wish I had taken more time to get to know Camille, especially outside of school, I am thankful for having shared many classes together. 

Through these interactions, I gathered that Camille had a whip-smart sense of humor. When playing a round of Trivia Crack, we both needed to submit answers beginning with "I" for "Things You Cannot Take on a Plane." Both lacking solid answers, I answered "Indian spices", while Camille submitted the apt answer "ISIS".
When I told another friend about her answer, from across the room, she looked with a smile on her face and gave me the V-sign 2-fingered "I'm watching you".

So, safe to say, Camille was a silly kid. But, in a perfect balance, she was also calm and acted as the levelheaded voice of reason. This role proved especially necessary for our English table in 7th grade. 

These memories shine bright in spite of what were overall some pretty morbid middle school years. 
It is not until losing Camille that I learned how someone can have such a presence in your life without even seeing or talking to them.

Even if I was never going to see Camille again, I realize how comforting it was to think that we were both shedding our middle school years and discovering who we really are.

Even as I write this message in early June, I still think about Camille and realize how comforting of a presence she had in those two years of my life. 

I hope that Camille's soul is at peace and that she can in some abstract she knows that she positively impacted the lives of those around her.

As we say in Judaism, "May Her Memory Be A Blessing".

This is truly heart breaking news. I had the pleasure meeting Camille as a child in my classroom and she was a very happy baby with the prettiest smile. My prayers are with her family and friends during this time. Sleep in Peace baby girl. Love You. Ms. Judy

I knew Camille briefly in July and August. Even though we weren’t the closest of friends, I am so grateful we crossed paths. She left me with nothing but happiness, and as we fought many battles together, a sense of belonging and trust that we can have brighter futures. Hearing of her passing saddened me greatly, and I wanted to do something for Camille to thank, encourage, and remember her beautiful soul. So I wrote a song to her, along with a short message about my time with her. I hope everyone who hears my song leaves feeling grateful to have had Camille in their lives, as that is what this song did for me.

We went to school together last year, and I didn’t get to cross paths with you. Reading all the kind words people have said about you really make me wish I had. I never thought our school was big until I realized I really never got to meet you or even see you. And while I wish I could’ve, that for some reason the clock could run back and we suddenly had a class on the same floor at the same time, I think so many other people would love to see you one last time. You’re so, so beautiful and it’s so clear that every single nice thing said about you has immense substance. Your smile truly says it all. You made such a lovely impact on people’s lives. I’ve seen comparisons of you to fairy lights and descriptions of how good of a friend you were. You remind me of a sunflower. Hopeful and beautiful, bright even in the rain. I’ll never get to know anything about you, and I really shouldn’t even write anything here for that reason. But I just wanted to express how incredible is is that everyone knew how good you were at heart, whether they were close to you, or they knew from a distance. You are so incredible. Rest in peace, beautiful. Sending you the biggest hug. 

As a former co-worker of Lonna's and forever friend, my heart aches for her and her family at this tragic time.  I remember Camille as a fun, creative and very artful girl.  I am so sorry to hear of her death.

i first met camille in august of 2020. she really made my life brighter- we did a lot of jigsaw puzzles together, and when i was new she helped me get adjusted and would “race” me to do things i was having a hard time with. we were both at children’s at the same time, and towards the end of her stay i came to visit her in her room. the nurses subsequently kicked me out but she handed me a puzzle as i was getting wheeled out. we only knew each other for a short amount of time, and weren’t very close,  but she had a great impact on me. 

Camille and I weren’t close, but right when we met I knew she was such a bright and beautiful soul. She was so incredibly sweet and kind-hearted, and had such an incredible personality. While it pains me that she is gone, I feel worse about the pain she had to endure while she was here. And while I also feel sad about these circumstances that have occurred, I know that everything is in divine order and that, truly, her spirit is still with us all. I know it. 
My best, warmest condolences go to her family and friends and anyone who has had a connection with this extraordinary soul.

I went to AGS with Camille, and I don’t think it’s fair of me to claim the title of friend, but we had a lot of classes together over those 3 years, and we sat at the same lunch table the first semester of 6th grade. I remember people used to call her Chameleon. 

I keep thinking about Camille, and maybe this is cliché, but the image of fairy lights keeps coming to mind. We weren’t close, but I knew Camille to be kind, caring, silly, bubbly, and just a joy to be around. She was such a beautiful person, but you all know that already. I did not know her that well and I didn’t know her for a long time, but Camille was a little fairy light in my life. She was a little light on a string that with all of the other little lights emits a soft glow and makes darkness beautiful. And we need those little things, right? We need our favorite songs and warm breezes and sunsets and we need kind and goofy people like Camille. Sometimes it gets so dark, and I need the fairy lights so I can keep believing in how beautiful and wonderful life can be. Camille’s presence was one of the many little things that always made life that much more okay. Because it all gets hard sometimes, and we need kind, loving, silly people like her to emit their soft glow.

Camille, thank you for being a little fairy light in my life. I knew you during a really hard period of my life, and your presence made it that much more okay. I’m so lucky, happy, and grateful to have been able to know you for the short time that I did. 

I’ve thought a lot this year about how even after you fall out of touch with someone, their love can still carry you forward. I know Camille’s love will forever carry the people she knew forward. I know her love and her light is one of the little things that will keep me going forward too.

I had the pleasure of teaching Camille in her gifted classes at Morningside.  I've emailed my memories of her, but thought many on this site would appreciate seeing the picture that she drew in my class when she was in 2nd grade.   After watching her service yesterday, I knew I had to find this picture of her Triangle Transformation.    To the family, and those who loved her most, know I will keep you in my prayers.

She was determined that I would NOT catch her on film - dodged and turned every time I pointed the camera in her direction. She slipped up once ...

Camille was such a gentle person. Never was there a time I can remember that she was anything other than good hearted. She brought joy to all the kids of Asbury Grove when it was summer time. Swimming at the pool laughing with her, screaming at Canobie lake park together while riding a roller-coaster. Everyone always wanted her around and if she wasn't there, it felt incomplete. She was truly genuine and loving and I am so honored I had the privilege of being her friend. I have many memories with Camille but one memory that stands out to me happened a couple summers ago. I remember that we stayed out at Pleasant Pond near Asbury Grove the whole day. We swam, laughed and jumped around in the sun without a worry. There was a rumor of a giant turtle in the pond so we'd push eachother off the paddle boards we were on trying to scare one another. But we knew there was no such thing as a 6 foot turtle who ate people. We just went along with it because it made everything so much better. We were so happy, it felt like the perfect summer day with all of us around. Never once did I think that was going to be one of my last memories with her. She was one of the kindest people I have ever known and I can truly say that without hesitation. We miss you Camille. May her soul rest in peace and my love and my family's love go out to the people she knew best❤ .

Camille I met you last year for the first time at your grandmother’s house.  When I met you it was like I had known you your entire life.  I was in your parents wedding.  I have known of you throughout the years You were so sweet and personable.  Through your family’s postings on Facebook I came to know the beautiful young lady you are.    Rest In Peace sweet Camille.  You will be forever missed and loved. 

I did not know you personally, Camille. You did not know me. Nonetheless, here I am.

It seems, from the prior comments, that I have missed out on a memorable relationship, and that is most sorrowing.

The humbling news that reached me Wednesday morning became the melody I played at the piano Friday night, which have now become the words I compile under Saturday's full moon.

I miss you without knowing what there is to miss. That, my dear, is the epitome of touching.

I had the gift of meeting Camille through an online survivor game. Even though I never met her in person she was such a cheerful person who always brought up the mood. I offer my deepest condolences to her family and friends. 

Camille was Lola’s closest friend from the first moment they met at Grady Highschool. For Lola, it was not only a new school but coming from Germany she didn’t have anyone here. Camille was an anchor for Lola, who was always there when she needed her.
We are glad Lola got to spend legendary moments with Camille, that she will remember for the rest of her life. 
Camille will be dearly missed – but will always be with us, in our hearts.

I had the pleasure of having Camille at a young age as a toddler. I knew early on that she had a gentle soul. She never ever ever cried always had a smile on her face. I remember telling her mom she's my HAPPY BABY!! so whenever I'd call her I wouldn't say Camille I'd call HAPPY BABY come here..  she'd walk over to me with her delicate sweet smile. Camille and I met on an online game hosted by one of her good friends in real life. Nobody in that game was really fond of me as a person. But there was one exception, and that was Camille. As you will see in the photo below, she shared some very kind words towards me which I never knew I needed to here. She got to know me and talk to me everyday, and truly saw that I am not as bad of a person as people make me seem. That to me, makes Camille an incredible person that this world was blessed to have. She was one of the rarest gems you can find as a person, and anyone who knew her or even spoke to her can probably agree with me. Though I only knew her for about a month, it was an honour to get to know her and talk to her everyday. She will truly be missed, and never forgotten. I love you Camille.

The depth of her soul and tenderness of her spirit shine through in Camille’s smile and her beautiful, ageless face.  May the sweetest moments of her life, and the most joyful memories of your time together, help sustain you.  For such an unspeakable loss, we must all keep speaking her name. Godspeed, Camille.

The first time that I met Camille (and Lonna) was in Brooklyn at Linda's memorable annual Easter Sunday dinner ten years ago.  The ridiculously large dining table was  decorated to the fullest with gargantuan spring floral arrangements, hand decorated easter eggs and anywhere between fourteen and forty people.  A quintessential New York moment.  That year, I was seated next to Camille.  She was eight at the time and I fell in love with her immediately.  Beautifully dressed in her Sunday best, with a stuffed animal as her dinner escort, we spoke of books that she was reading, things that she was doing in school, her love of drawing, and the broadway play she would be seeing while in town - I believe it was The Lion King.  Camille was the portrait of a little Southern lady.  What I loved most was the glimmer in her eye as she took everything in around her.  As we hugged goodbye that day, I was excited to welcome Lonna and Camille into our family.  Camille had claimed her seat at our very large eclectic table of artists and eccentrics.   I carry this memory and you in my heart until we meet again sweet Camille.  

I had the privilege of knowing this precious soul all of her life.  She was loving, beautiful, considerate, and kind.  My life is so much better for having known her.  I was always taken by her smile and intellect.
