Angela Bates Blanchard, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2024, at the age of 73. Born in Belzoni, Mississippi, on July 27, 1951, Angela’s life was defined by her warmth, generosity, and deep love for those around her.
For 20+ years, Angela worked in the Fulton County school system, where she touched the lives of countless students and colleagues. Her dedication to education and her community was evident in everything she did, always striving to make a positive impact.
As a mother, she raised three children with unwavering strength and devotion, showing them the importance of resilience, compassion, and kindness. Her love for music, especially playing the piano, filled her home with joy and comfort. She had an unmistakable spirit that could light up a room, always ready with a smile and an open heart. She never met a stranger and believed in the power of kindness to transform even the smallest moments.
Angela enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, from watching hilariously terrible action movies to spending time with her grandchildren. Her sense of humor and love for life were constants, making those around her feel special and cherished. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched through her compassion, humor, and love.
Angela was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Hayden Blanchard, Parker’s identical twin brother. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Malik), and son, Parker (McKenzie), as well as her five grandchildren (Thomas Blanchard, Peyton Hightower, Landon Blanchard, Kennedy Blanchard, and Lennox Hightower), who will forever carry her memory and love in their hearts. Angela will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
A memorial service will be held to honor her life and legacy on Thursday, September, 12th at Dunwoody United Methodist Church at 1:00pm EST.
