Ryan Deane Currier

Ryan Deane Currier, 44, of Weymouth, passed away unexpectedly on August 16, 2022. He was born in Fall River, MA on February 1, 1978 and is survived by his wife Angela, of Weymouth, daughter Ava and parents, Thomas and Kathleen Currier, of East Sandwich. He is also survived by his sister Sarah Currier-Barrella, her husband John, and nephews John (“Tony”) and James Barrella, of Middleboro. Ryan is also survived by his “bonus” children Mackenzie Teed of Atkinson, ME; Ariel Colson (Darrell) of South Royalton, VT; Dalton Harrington (Brittney Murphy) of Chelsea, VT; and Austin Sayers (Brooke) of South Royalton, VT, as well as nine “bonus” grandchildren. His loss is also mourned by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends from all stages of his life.

Ryan grew up in East Sandwich and graduated in 1997 from Sandwich High School, where he excelled at swimming and diving, serving as co-captain of the swim team his senior year. Always a devoted employee and hard worker, he most recently worked in the weatherization field in Weymouth.

Devotion to his wife, daughter, family and sobriety was primary in Ryan’s life. Ryan sought adventure and excitement throughout his life. He loved fireworks shows- especially the one that closed out his and Angela’s wedding celebration in October, 2020. Still, he preferred quiet rural life over city lights, and in his down time could often be found camping or fishing, and he treasured his frequent trips to Vermont with his family. And even in his forties, he never lost the joy and wonder of Christmas with his family and delighted in giving the perfect gift- especially to the children who were blessed to have him in their life.

Ryan possessed a strong sense of justice and was very honest and open about his struggles and his successes. He was also mischievous and loved good-natured teasing (even at his own expense)- his twinkling brown eyes and smirk are the expression his family chooses to remember him with. He loved animals and enjoyed the company of pets his whole life. Most of all, Ryan was fiercely loyal, protective of his loved ones, and would give his last dollar to a friend in need. True to his nature, his last act on this earth was to give of himself so that others might live; three people have received his organs.

Visiting Hours will be held Thursday, September 8 from 4:00-7:00 PM, at Nickerson Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A, Sandwich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, September 9 at 11:00 AM at Corpus Christi Church, 324 Quaker Meetinghouse Road, East Sandwich. Burial follows at the Sandwich Town Cemetery on Route 130, Forestdale.

In lieu of flowers, the family would find comfort in the presence of friends and family to share memories at Ryan’s services.
