Robert "Bob" Brunell passed away after a long courageous battle with Leukemia. He was 67. He leaves his wife of Ellen (Welch) Brunell of 41 years. She made Bob's great life even greater. Bob leaves a son, Nathan Brunell, his wife, Sarah, and three grandsons, Luke, Cole and Sammy from Kingston, MA. He also leaves a daughter, Amanda Bokesch, her husband Adam and two grandsons Brooks and Brayden from Raleigh, North Carolina. Bob leaves a brother, Paul Brunell from Southbridge, MA.
Bob lived in Forestdale, MA (Sandwich). Prior to that he lived in Southbridge and Webster where he was active in coaching soccer, little league and girl's softball. He also taught Christian Doctrine.
Bob retired as Manager of Product Development and Regulatory Affairs for L.M. Gerson Co. In Middleboro, MA. Prior to that he was an engineer for Schott Fiber Optics and American Optical in Southbridge. Bob is listed as inventor or co-inventor on 13 patents.
Bob is a US Navy Vietnam veteran and served as radar man on the USS Sacramento that included 3 tours of duty in the Gulf of Tokin.
Bob spent many years as coordinator for Hospitality for the Homeless for Corpus Christie parish in Sandwich where he led a dedicated group of volunteers who provided meals, and a quiet place to sleep for the homeless of Cape Cod. He also served as a member of St. Vincent de Paul in Sandwich.
Bob enjoyed touring with his wife and has visited all 50 states and 5 continents. Bob's hobbies were cabinet making, kayaking, bicycling, fishing and enjoying his grandsons. Bob enjoyed watching a good Cape Cod baseball league game and walking the beaches of Cape Cod.
There will be a memorial service and mass at Christ the King parish on Monday, November 30th at 11:00a.m. followed by a reception in the church hall. A burial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Cape Cod Times Needy Fund, P.O. Box 804 Hyannis, MA.
