Nicholas Robert DeCosta, 43, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday October 1, 2024 at his home in Sandwich, MA. Nick was born in Brooklyn, NY to and is survived by Adrienne Ferreira (Amoia) of Buzzards Bay, MA and Robert DeCosta of Sandwich, MA on December 14, 1980.
Throughout Nick’s life he was so active and adventurous. Nick loved boating, all things marine, trucks, motors, snowmobiling, ATV’ing, and most of all his family.
Nick leaves behind his wife, Shelby DeCosta (Ivory) of Sandwich, MA and their 5 year old son Nicholas Robert DeCosta Jr. (Nico), and his daughter Nevaeh Rebecca DeCosta, 23.
Nick was most recently a boat transportation operator with Dry Dock Marine of Yarmouth, MA. He was an exceptionally dedicated employee and loved his job. He was passionate about so much. One of his greatest joys was taking his young son Nico to work with him in the “boat truck” and showing him the ropes of hauling.
Nick was a jack of all trades and knew how to do so much, and he loved sharing his knowledge with other people. One of Nick’s most amazing qualities was how good of a friend he was. Nick truly would drop anything at anytime for a friend. Not even just for a friend, but for anyone who needed help.
Nick also leaves behind his sister Michelle Boyd (DeCosta) and husband Jason Boyd of Sandwich and their three daughters Nina, Olivia and Madeleine, his step father Luiz Ferreira of Buzzards Bay, step brother, Shelby Ferreira of Tampa, FL, his in-laws Douglas and Lori Ivory of Falmouth, MA and sister in law, Alyssa Ivory of Falmouth, MA.
Nick was truly larger than life. His laugh could be heard from anywhere and his smile was infectious. His presence will always be felt on the ocean while in a boat, in the sunshine on our faces, and in the wind we hear in the distance. We will always see him in the faces and personalities of his two beautiful children. He will be forever missed and forever loved.
