He was born June 06,1948 to the late Marjorie and Fredrick Barry of Milton, MA. Jim graduated from Milton High School and received an Associated Degree from Graham Junior College. Then he furthered his education by attending Fisheries College and Northeastern University. Jim was passionate about photography over the years and loved the time doing weddings along with special events. While working in Newfoundland and Labrador Canada, Jim met Maxine where they married in 1977. They had one daughter Jenn. The family then moved to Cape Cod Mass in 1984 where they currently reside.
Jim was a very independent man. In the earlier years he worked with his father in the family fisheries business. He also owned and operated a bakery in Labrador for a few years. After moving to Cape Cod, Jim worked in residential construction. He spent time working in the High Arctic at Resolute Bay Canada for a time, then moved back to Cape Cod. He most recently worked as a building inspector for the town of Dennis and then to Nantucket until his retirement.
He was passionate about making a difference in the lives of others and asking for nothing in return. He loved to travel back to Newfoundland whenever possible, especially Labrador. He just recently returned home from Labrador with Maxine earlier this year. He loved going back to spend time with their family.
He is survived by his siblings Fred, Joanne, Paul, Michael. Preceded in death by his sister Mary and sister-in-law Janice. He said his greatest joy was being a dad to their daughter Jenn.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to St Jude Children's Hospital or Diabetes Research.
A Visitation and Celebration of Life will be held Sunday November 20, 2022, from 1pm-4pm at Nickerson Funeral Home, 154 Rt 6A, Sandwich, MA.
The family is asking for your thoughts and prayers as they grieve.
