Born in 1936, Jim grew up in Wilmington, DE, graduated from Mt. Pleasant HS and then from the University of Delaware where he majored in chemical engineering and was an active member of the ATO fraternity. He then earned a master’s degree in nuclear engineering at MIT.
The Boston area became his home where he raised his family (children Claudia and Eric) with Baerbel, working for Avco and then Boston Edison Company.
He retired to Cape Cod where he was an active member of the Cape Cod Ski Club. He later moved to Aventura, FL where he made many new friends and became an active and beloved community member.
Jim was an avid golfer, hiker, biker, skier, traveler and all-around fan of the great outdoors. He was known for his gentle ways, kind soul, curious nature, open mind, and welcoming smile.
Jim will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Anyone wishing to do so is invited to make a donation in his name to The Carter Center or the Unitarian Universalist Church.
Memorial Visitation will be held Tuesday August 20th at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A, Sandwich, MA, from 10-12pm. Burial will be private.
