David Tibbetts

David F. Tibbetts, 78, of Sandwich, Massachusetts peacefully passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 surrounded by his family. David was born on December 17, 1943 to Harris and Helen (Cutting) Tibbetts. He grew up in Beverly, Massachusetts before joining the United States Coast Guard.

He married his loving wife Pauline N. (Geary) Tibbetts and went on to have 4 children. David had a very full life, and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. David truly loved the ocean. Whether it was boating, fishing, hanging out at the “cottage” in Rockport or lobstering. He was a true handyman and loved having many projects going at once.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pauline N. Tibbetts of Sandwich, his children Wendi Tibbetts of Brewster, Michael Tibbetts of Holyoke, Sydny and Chad Shaw of Sandwich, and Erik Tibbetts of Wellfleet. He is also survived by his siblings, Peter Tibbetts of Gloucester, Sue Ellen and Doug Findley of Venice, Florida and his Aunt Harriet Cutting of Worcester. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Harris Tibbetts of Swampscott.

David was a proud Grandpa/Papa and loved his grandchildren: Shane Skahan, Mikayla Shaw, Caitlin Shaw, Haley Kelsey, David Shaw and his great granddaughter Makenna Skahan.

At David’s request, there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in David’s name to the American Heart Association.
