Sara Garcia

Sara Alvarado Garcia was born in Ventura, California on November 20, 1950. She passed away peacefully in Modesto, California on October 20, 2021, one month prior to her 71st birthday.

Born to Edward Alvarado and Micaela Piña, she was the youngest of eleven children. After high school, Sara joined the Peace Corps during the late 1960s, and spent time working at Silicon Valley companies IBM and HP. She married Salvador Garcia in 1987. Though a long-time resident of San Jose, she later settled with her husband in Turlock and Modesto.

A vibrant soul, Sara cherished spending time with family. She loved tending to her plants and taking trips to be close to nature, and was always game for a shopping spree.

A wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great aunt and sister, she is survived by her loving husband, Salvador Garcia; her children Gilbert Valdez, Matthew Valdez, and Melanie Perez; her twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

There will be a viewing at 12pm on Monday, November 15, followed by a ceremony of remembrance at Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 300 Curtner Avenue, San Jose. A reception will follow.
